Academy 1/72 B-29A Superfortress "Old Battler"

About the B-29 Superfortress
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was one of the most advanced bombers of the Second World War. It was designed as a long range heavy bomber with a pressurized crew compartment, remote controlled defensive gun turrets, and the ability to carry large bomb loads over great distances. The aircraft first saw combat in 1944 and was used extensively in the Pacific theater against Japanese targets. One early aircraft was “Old Battler,” a B-29 from the 444th Bomb Group of the 58th Bomb Wing that flew missions from bases in India and later from forward airfields in China during the first phase of B-29 operations against Japan.
“Old Battler” is notable because it represents these early B-29 operations before the aircraft moved to bases in the Mariana Islands. Missions flown from India and China were extremely difficult. Bombers had to carry supplies over the Himalayas to support the Chinese bases before they could even launch combat missions. Aircraft like Old Battler were part of these demanding operations and became symbols of the early Superfortress effort in the Pacific.

Additional Information and Details
The Academy 1/72 B-29 and B-29A Superfortress “Old Battler” kit provides a detailed representation of the large bomber in a manageable scale.
Below is what is inside the kit. I purchased this one on Amazon. It is still in my list to complete, after I get a few more builds out of the way. The kit looks a little more challenging, but I expect it to be a fun build when I get to it. Once I start, I will be sure to post the build log and photos.

Surface detail features finely engraved panel lines and recessed features that respond well to painting and weathering. The kit provides parts for both B-29 and B-29A configurations along with clear pieces for the nose glazing, gunner stations, and cockpit canopy. The decal sheet includes markings for “Old Battler,” allowing builders to recreate the aircraft’s distinctive nose art and early Pacific theater markings.
The model includes a basic but effective interior with cockpit seats, control panels, and crew positions that can be seen through the clear nose section. The bomb bay can be displayed open with included bomb racks and ordnance, which adds visual interest to the finished model.
Four radial engines with separate propellers and detailed nacelles give the aircraft its characteristic appearance.
